Exploring Narrative Therapy: Part 1

“Exploring Narrative Therapy: Part 1” is a 1 day introductory workshop which explores the basic philosophy, theory and practice of Narrative Therapy. If you are new to the world of Narrative ideas and have an interest in learning about this powerful approach then come along for a journey into the Narrative world with Felicity Llewellyn of Evolve Counselling. The workshop offers you an experiential introduction to ideas and practices that are relevant not only to the counselling process but also to your own life.

Workshop Content
Areas we will explore:
• the philosophy of post structuralism
• the basic “maps” that can guide Narrative conversations
• the theory and practice of “externalising” (i.e.: separating people from problems)
• the theory and practice of “outsider witnessing” (i.e.: inviting someone to witness a   client’s story and then reflecting on what they have heard)
• Narrative documentation (i.e.: therapeutic letters, community documents & poetics)The workshop will have a theoretical component but the main focus will be on putting the ideas into practice. You will be invited to share in conversations with Felicity throughout the day, as well as being given the opportunity to practice the ideas for yourself. You will be provided with comprehensive notes to take home, articles, recommended readings and a certificate (6 hours professional dev).


Exploring Narrative Therapy: Part 2

“ENT: Part 2” is an intermediate workshop for those who have already attended “ENT: Part 1”. Counsellors who have a basic working knowledge of Narrative Therapy are also welcome to attend. This workshop will extend your understanding of the practices you have already begun to explore by visiting real-life examples from Felicity’s work & by continuing to try them out for yourself. The day promises to be an engaging and enriching experience on both a personal & professional level for all those who attend.

Areas we will explore:
• Externalising problems & preferred developments
• Moving from singular to multiple-layered accounts of stories
• Uncovering what is implicit in expressions of anger, regret & despair
• Navigating tricky terrain with couples & familiesOur explorations will have a theoretical component but the main focus will be on their practical application. You will be invited to share in conversations with Felicity throughout the day, as well as being given the opportunity to practice the ideas for yourself. You will be provided with comprehensive notes to take home, articles, recommended readings and a certificate (6 hours professional development).
